DescriptionHand-built, pinched, fired, slip-painted earthenware. Brown with black firing marks, white paint on decorated areas. Wide human face on 2 sides with protruding eyes, nose, mouth. Animal-like face with sharp beak at each end of handle over top. Miniature version of storage pot for food or water, made in Amboin, the only pottery-making village on the mid-Sepik; these are traded with other villages.
