ProvenanceRemake of much older piece, L.7.56-11, with the addition of decorative carving of a later era on rail. Both chairs are adaptations of Empire style furniture. The general feature of the style is curved, languorous lines exhibited in the stiles and legs of these charis. Construction is in the New Mexican style of mortise and tenon joints. Tapia won first place in the woodcarving division of the 27th annual Spanish Market, 1978.
