ProvenanceThe donor married a Syrian man and moved to Saudi Arabia in 1976, where she lived for 11 years. During her stay she amassed a large collection of Middle Eastern garments.

DescriptionSquare envelope style red silk bag with cotton lining used to store clothing. Hand embroidered in buttonhole, satin, running and chain stitches. Evenly spaced rondels cover the entire piece. The triangular construction is emphasized by rows of silk embroidery in greens, purples, and oranges, as well as a commercial rickrack applique in white. These are further enhanced with metal sequins and tassels attached with pearlized beads. A cotton braid acts as a closure.
