DescriptionThe indigo ground of this quilt consists of three panels that have appliques of four patterns. These include a four part stylized shape symbolizing a frog (meaning fertility and charity), a yellow four petalled flower on a square pink ground, an orange "curling flower motif" (meaning our life has roots and money), and a modified hexagonal shape. All are outlined by a gold colored silk thread couched with red thread. A magenta border surrounds the quilt. Backing the quilt is a natural light weight muslin which is turned to the front to form an outer border. The quilt is signed in Chinese characters.1928 - 1935
