DescriptionA tupu, or large clothing pin meant to hold a shawl or other clothing around the front of the wearer. The entirely sliver pin has a large disc at the top, attached to a long tapering pin. The disc is decorated with concentric bands, including a repeated circular and curved motif around the outer edge and inner circle. Four raised bosses are positioned at equal intervals across the face of the disc, with a smal floral or rosette-like motif at the center. A multi-strand, beaded chain is attached at the lower portion of the tupu and end in two small, bell shaped pendants and a smaller tapered pin.19th Century
