DescriptionThis heavy black wool jumper has a burgundy braid around collar front opening. Muslin sleevelets with ecru-colored hand crocheted have been sewn in. A similar but not as elaborate lace trims the hem but not at the U-shaped front. The burgandy braid - in what appears to be forty rows of single crochet - has about the lace above it an elaborate design in metallic thread over a green silk ground. The cuffs are alsp decorated with burgundy braid and metallic thread in geometric and floral patterns. In what is either a repair or way of lengthening the jumper, a blue and gray commercial wool herringbone 6.5 cm long piece joins the bodice and skirt. A pocket trimmed in red braid comes from skirt seam. Red braid follows from cuff underarm to waist.
