ProvenanceThe donor married a Syrian man and moved to Saudi Arabia in 1976, where she lived for 11 years. During her stay she amassed a large collection of Middle Eastern garments.
DescriptionThe cap is orange, green, red, purple, and white that is satin stitched over a fine ribbed cotton, ground. It produces geometric patterns. The crown is centered with a metal medallion (with either turquoise or enamel in center). On each side hangs a lappet with rams' horns patterns executed in petit point cross-stitch. The lappets are lined in silk. From each hangs long wrapped and beaded silk tassels.20th century
