DescriptionThe central figure is the lady in the title whose upraised arms have broken chains on them. she wears a short-sleeved blouse and her lower body is the shape of a mermaid. To her left is an indigenous Mexican lady holding a pot on her left shoulder and dressed in traditional dance costume of floral designs in various sizes. Above the mermaid is a big bow with trailing ribbons. to her left is a tree with many flowers. Along the right side are many seashell or fan designs. Below the mermaid is a series of wavy intertwined lines. The mermaid, the Mexican lady, sombrero, pot, bow, and seashells have various colors of paper showing through. The piece is done with red paper which is from JapanCatalina Delgado Trunk
